Indian sugar robbery attempt in Sylhet, case against two BNP leaders


A robbery case has been filed in the name of two BNP leaders who were arrested by local people during an attempt to snatch smuggled sugar in Osmani Nagar, Sylhet. Sylhet's Osmaninagar police station filed this case as plaintiff on Monday afternoon.

On the other hand, the police have filed another case under the Special Powers Act in connection with sugar smuggling. Additional Superintendent of Police of Osmaninagar Circle Ashrafuzzaman confirmed the matter.

Osmaninagar police station arrested six people with the help of local people from the area near Sadipur bridge on Sylhet-Dhaka highway last Sunday around 3 pm. The arrested persons are general secretary of Sylhet city ward number 25 BNP. Soleman Hossain, General Secretary of Ward No. 26 BNP. Abdul Mannan, Monir Ahmad (32) of Bateshwar Malaitila of Sylhet Sadar Upazila, Tofail Ahmad (26) of Bagherkhal village of Jaintapur, Md. of the same area. Shaheen Ahmad (25) and Nazrul Islam (42) of Goainghat Fatehpur village.
