The current interim government can consider some strategies to ensure people's participation. For example:
Institutionalizing public participation: a) Legal framework—Enacting laws or reforming existing laws that mandate public consultation in policy-making.
Through this, citizen participation will not only depend on political will. b) Empowerment of local government system: To realistically empower local government institutions.
Through this, people can give their opinion on matters related to their development and can make decisions as well as ensure accountability.
Use of Technology: a) E-Governance Platform—Creating easy and user-friendly online portals. Here citizens can give their views on policies, report any issues to the authorities and get all government services seamlessly.
b) Use of mobile phones – There are currently 19 crore active mobile phones in the country. SMS-based survey can be conducted to collect the opinion of mobile phone users in deciding any matter of urgent public importance.
Inclusive Policy Formulation:
a) Stakeholder dialogue—Ensuring participation of all in the formulation of various policies by maintaining regular contact and consultation with various groups including minorities, women, marginalized communities.
b) New Generation (Gen-G) Participation – To create an acceptable platform for the participation of those who have recently played an important role in the movement, regardless of party affiliation, so that they can participate in national and local level discussions.
