Goodbye New Zealand in semis after 8 years


Pakistan was India's last hope. But the two neighboring countries had to leave the T20 World Cup in the end.

After 8 years on top of them, New Zealand reached the semi-finals. They beat Pakistan by 54 runs yesterday.

New Zealand won the toss and scored 110 runs for 6 wickets at the Dubai International Stadium. The maximum 28 runs came from opener Suzy Bates' bat. Nashra Sadhu took maximum 3 wickets for 18 runs for Pakistan.

In response, Pakistan were bowled out for just 56 runs. Apart from captain Fatima Sana (21) and Muniba Ali (15), no other batsman could reach double figures. Amelia Kerr took three wickets for just 14 runs of New Zealand. Edder Carson also got two, Rosemary Meyer, Leah Tahuhu, and Fran Jonas got one wicket each.

New Zealand has confirmed semi as the runner-up of the group with 6 points from 4 matches. Favorite Australia has reached the last four first with 8 points in 4 matches from the same group.
