Former minister Abdur Razzak is in jail after being remanded in Tangail

Tangail Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Mahmudul Mohsin ordered him to be jailed on Friday (November 24) afternoon.

The five-day remand in the case filed at Madhupur police station for the attack on the students' procession on August 4 ended on Sunday. After the hearing this afternoon, Abdur Razzak was taken from the court in a prison van to the Tangail District Jail through tight security.

Earlier, Abdur Razzak was produced in Tangail court on November 11. There, the arrest was made in the murder case of the school student Maruf who was shot on August 5 in Tangail city, and the arrest was made in the case of the murder of the college student Emon who was shot on August 3 in Mirzapur. In addition, he was arrested in connection with the attack on anti-discrimination student activists at Madhupur upazila headquarters on August 4. Police applied for seven days remand for interrogation in those three cases. He was remanded for five days for a total of 15 days from the concerned court.

After the remand was granted, Abdur Razzak was first remanded to Tangail Sadar police station in the case of killing of school student Maruf. He was interrogated there for five days. Later on November 15, Emon was taken to Mirzapur police station for questioning in the murder case. He was last taken to Madhupur police station on November 20. There, on August 4, there was a questioning in the case filed for the attack on the students' procession.

According to police sources, during the interrogation, Abdur Razzak said that he had no involvement with the killing of Maruf, the killing of Eman and the attack on the students' procession in Madhupur. He also told the police that he will not give a statement in court in these cases.

Abdur Razzak's lawyer, President of Tangail District Advocate Bar, AKM Shamimul Akhter, said that they did not apply for Abdur Razzak's bail. The bail application will be made on the next scheduled date.
