Former expatriate welfare minister Imran arrested


Personal Correspondent: Former Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Imran Ahmed has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.


He was arrested from Banani on Sunday (October 20) night. DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman of Public Relations Department of DMP confirmed this information to the media around half past midnight.


According to DB sources, there are multiple cases against Imran Ahmed. He will be produced in court on Monday for questioning in any of the cases and remand will be sought.


A case was registered in Paltan police station on September 3 against former expatriate welfare minister Imran Ahmed on charges of embezzlement and human trafficking. The names of 103 other people including the Secretary of Expatriate Welfare Ministry have been added as defendants.


Altaf Khan, the owner of Afia Overseas, the plaintiff in the case, alleged that the minister wanted to go beyond the rules and send people to Malaysia. They forced them hostage and took money. Whose personal 12 crore rupees was forced by the minister. In this syndicate, the then secretary Ahmed Muniruch Salehin did business with his son.
