A father was hacked to death in front of his son due to a land dispute in Sylhet's Kanighat. Later the police arrested the killer.
The incident took place at Dhalibil Dakshin Nayagaon village of Dakshin Banigram Union of the upazila around 6:30 am on Friday (November 8).
The name of the deceased is Faizul Hossain (68). He is the son of deceased Abdul Latif of that village. The accused Sultan Ahmad (50) is his cousin.
Eyewitnesses and relatives of the deceased said that there was a dispute between Faizul Hossain and Sultan Ahmed over the homestead land. Due to this, Sultan Ahmad was trying to kill Faizul Hossain for a few days. Faizul was in his residence with his expatriate son Ali Raja around 6:30 in the morning. Sultan Ahmad then brought a sharp ramada and abused him. At one point, when they tried to anger them, Ali Raja withdrew to save his life. Then, seeing Faizul Hossain in front of him, the Sultan was furious.
On hearing the news, the locals rushed and surrounded Sultan Ahmad in his residence and informed the police. Later, the police arrested the killer Sultan Ahmed from the spot.
Kanighat Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Awal said that Sultan Ahmad has confessed to the murder. Police is preparing a case in this incident.
Citing locals, the OC also said that Sultan Ahmad was involved in various criminal activities in the area. He always used to walk recklessly in the area with Da. His brothers and cousins ​​are living in Sylhet city out of fear of him.
