Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has urged the youth to come forward to make the cities of the country livable, including Dhaka. He said, our youth can make the cities livable and the present government will support them in this work.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at a youth dialogue titled 'Youth Leading Climate and Local Action for Cities' organized at the seminar hall of Daily Star on the occasion of 'World Cities Day-2024' on Thursday (October 31).
The environmental advisor also said that even after 53 years of independence, Dhaka's waste management has not improved. There is a lack of space for children to play. Everyone must work to make the city livable.

Kamruzzaman, chairman of Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS) in Youth Dialogue, said that we are currently at the place of environmental reform, we should plan reforms on a priority basis. We hope that Dhaka's name will be included in the list of pollution-free cities under the leadership of the youth. He called on the youth to help the government in tackling air pollution, noise pollution and plastic pollution.
Dharitri Kumar Sarkar, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, said that urban areas are having noticeable effects of climate change. We need a collective effort to survive this impact. For that, first of all we have to reduce the use of fossil fuels, fix the drainage system of Dhaka and also reduce the wastage of water and electricity.
Organized by Atmospheric Pollution Study Center and World Vision Bangladesh, students from various educational institutions and representatives of Youth Forum were also present in the event.
