Emphasis should be placed on research on dengue control

The adviser of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Lands said that in order to control dengue nationwide in the long term, emphasis should be placed on research and development. Reputed entomologists of the country have been included in the committee formed for dengue control. They are experienced in these matters. Based on their opinion, a long-term plan should be adopted to combat dengue in the country.

He also said that mosquito control should not be limited to medicine-based activities but should adopt an environment-friendly action plan.

Dengue control experts said that measures should be taken by searching the patient's address and not the numerical data of dengue affected patients. Mosquito repellent spray should be sprayed not only in drains but also inside the house. Entomology labs should be set up in city corporations. Collecting mosquitoes from different places and determining the species must destroy the breeding grounds of mosquitoes. At the same time, effective measures should be taken by verifying the daily density of larvae based on the area.

According to the information received in the meeting, the number of infected patients this year is 64 thousand 471 and the number of deaths is 314. At this time last year, the number of patients affected by dengue infection was 2 lakh 76 thousand 163 and the number of deaths was 1 thousand 380.

It is known that in the current year, 3 lakh 26 thousand 472 establishments have been inspected for dengue control in two city corporations in Dhaka. 7 thousand 195 establishments where larvae were found Breeding grounds have been destroyed and larvicide sprayed in 4 lakh 10 thousand 307 establishments. 37 thousand 505 Novaliuron tablets were applied to kill mosquitoes.
