This year Durga Puja is being held in more than 31 thousand mandapas and temples, said the Durga Puja celebration committee of Bangladesh. Security personnel have been deployed at each mandap to ensure that there is no disturbance during the puja. Army has also been deployed in several areas.
A cloud of apprehension appeared across Bangladesh before Puja this year. It is also alleged that threats were made against performing puja at various places. Moinul Islam visited Dhaka's Banani Pujamandap on Friday night and said, 'Durga Puja this time was very challenging. Many expressed fear around Durga Puja. We assured that the puja will be done peacefully. This time Durga Puja is being celebrated in a grand manner.' The IGP said that 35 unpleasant incidents have occurred in the last 12 days in connection with Pujo. 17 people have been arrested in these incidents.
Meanwhile, a gold crown gifted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stolen from Jashoreshwari temple in Satkhira. The IGP also said that appropriate action is being taken in this incident.
