Durga Puja 2024: Government holidays increased during Durga Puja in Bangladesh, check the list – bangladesh government employees will get four consecutive days off during durga puja

During Durga Puja, holidays are increasing in Bangladesh this time. Till now only one day public holiday was given during Puja. But this year there are four consecutive days of public holidays for Puja in Bangladesh. The administration of Bangladesh said that next Friday and Saturday will be weekends. The next day, Sunday, is a public holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja, Vijaya Dashami. Along with this, the government has declared a holiday on Thursday as well. According to a Prothom Alo report, the office of Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, announced the holiday on Thursday by the government's executive order.

Mahfuz Alam, Special Assistant to Muhammad Yunus, said that Thursday will be declared a holiday by issuing a notification for this. All in all, there is a holiday from Thursday to Sunday. As a result, Durga Puja and weekend holidays are four consecutive days off this year.

Incidentally, during the reign of Sheikh Hasina, public holidays were given only on the day of Vijaya Dashami during Puja. The Hindu organizations of Bangladesh demanded to make this holiday at least three days. However, a radical Islamic organization called Pathe opposes the government holiday during Puja. Meanwhile, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in August, persecution of Hindus and other minority communities has been alleged.

It is also alleged that before the puja this year, idols were vandalized in different areas and various threats were also made against the puja. The Hindus of Bangladesh are in panic about this. However, Yunus's government has assured that all steps are being taken for peaceful and undisturbed puja.

Action will be taken on the complaints made by the Hindu community about insecurity, Mahfuz said. He also said that financial assistance will be given to the affected families quickly. Mahfuz Alam said this after visiting Dhakeshwari National Temple on Tuesday.

On the other hand, this year's puja will be very good and there will be no difficulties, said the Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He also said that RAB, BGB and Army have been deployed for the security of Puja.
