Dr. is joining the SDG activities. Yunus's 'Three Zero Theory'

The government is thinking of adding the 'Three Zeros' theory of sustainable development by Chief Adviser to the Interim Government Professor Muhammad Yunus to the measures taken by the government to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The policy makers of the government feel that it will be easier to achieve the desired goal of sustainable development through the effective application of this theory at both the public and private levels.

The 'Three-Zero Theory' is one of the most popular and effective models in today's world for financial independence, workforce creation and environmental development. It is a social and economic approach based on achieving three important goals. They are – zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero net carbon emissions. And to achieve that, youth, technology, good governance and social business are needed.

Grameen Bank and the promoter of the concept of microcredit. Muhammad Yunus has received special respect around the world for his theory of three zeros.

At the heart of the SDG goals is the plan—to build a better world and a sustainable future for all.

Lamia Morshed, Chief Coordinator and Senior Secretary for SDG Affairs of the Chief Adviser's Office, said, 'We are trying to connect the Three Zero theory with the SDGs. We have a workshop on SDGs with public and private sector officials discussing this theory. We want to create awareness about the three zero theory at all levels for the sake of sustainable development.'

He pointed out that the three zero theory has been put in the process of meeting the goals of the SDG, but the chief adviser of the interim government, Professor Yunus, does not want to impose the application of this theory on anyone. Our intention is that whoever likes it will take it and use it. For this reason, no initiative has been taken on the Three Zero theory at any major level of the government outside the SDGs.

The basic premise of the Three Zero theory is to reduce poverty, unemployment and carbon emissions to zero. Commenting on this theory, Professor Yunus said, 'The current economic system itself creates poverty and it is not possible to eradicate poverty under this system. People do not create poverty alone, poverty is created within our economic structure.'

According to him, emphasis should be placed on creating entrepreneurship rather than finding good jobs. He said several times in his speech, 'We are born to solve problems, not to work under someone. So the young generation should become entrepreneurs. Not under anyone, the world should lead by standing on its own feet.'

Professor Yunus presented the 'Three Zero' theory on a large scale to build a habitable safe world and a new civilization at the recent global climate conference held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

He presented this theory in his speech at the conference and said that it will give birth to a new civilization. A new world will be built, which will be habitable for all.

He also said that it is possible to change the lifestyle by applying this theory. This new way of life or 'lifestyle' is necessary for the safety of the environment. That life will not be imposed. You have to like it. The youth community will accept it with joy and love. In this way, everyone in the youth will develop themselves as 'Three Zero Persons'.

Explaining what a 'three zero person' is like, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist says, that person will emit no carbon. That means it will be 'zero carbon'. He will not be the sole hoarder of wealth. Its assets will be social business oriented. That is, he will be 'zero poor' and thus each of them will strive to fulfill the third condition of 'zero unemployment'. That is, according to Muhammad Yunus, if poverty, unemployment and carbon emission can be reduced to zero, a new world will be built that is free of worries and livable.

Lamia Morshed, a long-time colleague of Professor Yunus in his career, mentioned that the Three Zero Club plays a special role in developing the Three Zero Person. He thinks that the members of this club become aware of the Three Zero theory and eventually become Three Zero persons themselves.

Lamia Morshed, director of the Yunus Center, said, “There are currently about 4,600 Three Zero Clubs around the world, each of whose professors are inspired by Yunus' dream of a new civilization.” Most of these clubs are formed in universities.

Although the Three Zero Club has been formed in numerous famous universities of the world, this club has not been equally developed in Bangladesh. During the dictatorship of Sheikh Hasina, who ran away in the face of the mass movement of the students, it was quite risky for any university student or any other person to show interest in forming this Three Zero Club. Prof. Yunus also had to face a hostile environment in conducting awareness-raising activities on the Three Zero Theory.

In this regard, Lamia Morshed said, “During the government led by Sheikh Hasina, there was a ambivalence among many people regarding the establishment of the Three Zero Club in Bangladesh, now that the situation has changed, its scope is increasing day by day. Now many are coming forward. There is quite a response. Workshops on the Three Zero Theory have proliferated recently. It is not a central initiative, it is done by everyone from their own initiative. Just by networking they let us know that we are doing it.'

He said that no one can register the Three Zero Club at will. Several things are seen in this case. Registration is given only after seeing whether they are doing the work they are doing seriously and whether it is sustainable.

Lamiya Morshed quoted Professor Yunus, one of the proponents of sustainable development, as saying, 'Sir always says that we have created the problems in our society. Young people are the right people to solve these problems. Because they have many new ideas in their heads, they can use them to solve problems and move forward. That's why he said to those who are between 12 and 35 years old, 'You can join the Three Zero Club.' He mentioned that this club can be done by 4 to 5 people.

Lamia Morshed feels that social business is crucial in making Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus' Three Zero Theory a reality.

He said, after microcredit and micro finance Dr. Yunus' new program is social business. The essence of this concept is that one will provide one's own employment, while also providing employment opportunities to others. That is, I started a business with a loan, where three-five more people would work, they would get employment. The profit from this business will be spent on public welfare.

Profits can be spent on health, education or environmental development. He commented that in this way we can move towards sustainable development.

Professor Yunus always emphasizes on poverty alleviation, creation of entrepreneurship and reduction of environmental pollution, Lamia Morshed said, 'Dr. Yunus always says that if there is no specific goal, how do we move forward? So every job should have specific goals. His theory of development is not only about Bangladesh, it is about the welfare and future of the whole world.

The chief coordinator of SDGs also said that the main theme of Professor Yunus's social business is – I will not make any profit from this, but I have to return my original money. So that money can be used in other social activities. Muhammad Yunus used to say that social activities should be continued with microcredit. Social activities give a lot of satisfaction to the mind, because it benefits people a lot.

He said that 110 universities in 39 countries of the world have Yunus Social Business Center. Where microcredit businesses are taught. In their interest, the Three Zero Club is being created. The main goal of this club is to achieve zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero carbon emissions.

Lamia Morshed said that the three zero issue will be held in the youth conference (youth festival) to be held in Bangladesh next January. While sports mostly serve as a part of entertainment, how to make it part of social activities is being worked out. In a tournament where many people participate, if we give a theme that we will move towards zero waste, we will not use plastic, we will not litter the streets. If we can create awareness about this then there will be a big change in the society.

Giving an example, he said, if a player like Messi says that we will do zero waste, then this message will spread to the whole world. He mentioned that we are trying to do some such work to create awareness about the Three Zero theory.

Former Chief Economist of the International Trade Department of the Commonwealth Secretariat and Chairman of the Research Institute Rapid thinks that the three zero theory of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, can play a leading role in environmentally friendly and sustainable economic development. MA Razzaq.

He said, I believe that the 'Three Zero Theory' will act as a catalyst in achieving the goals in all indicators of sustainable development. He thinks that the concept of Three Zero theory has the potential to create a new revolution in agriculture and other sectors through the empowerment of youth, use of technology, establishment of good governance and social business in Bangladesh. Entrepreneurs are not being created in our country, but economic development is not possible without entrepreneurial development.

Dr. Razzak said, if the three zero theory is applied, entrepreneurs will be developed at all levels in the country and the desired development of the economy can be achieved. News: Bass
