Advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Asif Nazrul urged everyone to be united so that the uprising of the students does not fail in any way. He said, 'If I myself quarrel, slander, slander, give false information – then the self-sacrifice of our students will be disrespected.'
He said, 'Our dream is to make Bangladesh a truly independent, sovereign and proud nation. In the sense that the boys have sacrificed themselves (martyrs), in the sense that the common people have sacrificed themselves, when we leave, we should not have regrets in our hearts, that we did not do the work that we took responsibility for. That's why everyone should pray. May we all stand together and appreciate the sacrifices of those who sacrificed themselves, those who were injured.'
The legal adviser said these things as the chief guest in a discussion meeting titled 'Minar of Remembrance: Coup 2024' at National Press Club Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall this Saturday (November 30) afternoon.
Bangladesh News Agency (BASS) organized this meeting to mark the 100 days of the interim government and to pay respect to the martyred students in the anti-discrimination movement.
Asif Nazrul said, 'If I quarrel, slander, slander, give false information – then the self-sacrifice of our students will be disrespected. No complaint to anyone, request to all, please try to know the truth. This false accusation was the weapon of the defeated fascists. Why should we carry it? Our weapons will be truth and unity. Free from exploitation and discrimination.'
He said, 'It is okay to criticize our work. When the personal character is criticized – it seems that the criticism is aimed at discrediting the government. These are being done to create disunity among the agitating people, to destabilize the country, to hand over arms to the defeated forces.'
The legal adviser said, 'We do not have a neighboring country's script? If Sheikh Hasina leaves, no one else can run the country. Or the country will fall into the hands of extremists. She (Sheikh Hasina) has no choice. Some people have started to adapt that Indian script here. If not, what is their interest? What has the Awami League government done in the past 16 years? Advise us what we should do.'
Asif Nazrul said, 'If you support us more, guide us properly. If this government is successful, then we can destroy the dream of fascist Sheikh Hasina's comeback. Those who gave their lives in July-August, I can give a minimum assessment of their self-sacrifice. I can advance their expectations.'
Mahbub Morshed, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Bangladesh News Agency (BASS) presided over the event, Chief Adviser Press Secretary Mohammad Shafiqul Alam, writer and editor Rakhal Raha, poet and activist Ferdous Ara Rumi, Bangladesh News Agency (BASS) Special Representative and Director of the Board of Directors. . Fazlul Haque and Nur Alam Masud, general secretary of the Public Rights Council. Rashed Khan spoke. Didarul Alam, special representative of BASS conducted the program.
Asif Nazrul said, 'It is very sad and surprising when I see people following each other with strange, baseless and unimaginable information. It is claimed in a video that I was in the cantonment on the night of August 3-4. I had a meeting with Indian brokers along with army officers there. I was surprised. Human imagination should also have a limit.'
He said, 'On the night of August 3, Mahbub Morshed (currently managing director and chief editor of BASS) along with others gathered at Central Shaheed Minar and stayed there till 9 pm. Then I stayed the night at a teacher's house in the residential building of Fuller Road in Dhaka University area. There was a fear that they would kill me or arrest me. And later in the evening of August 4, I attended a program for online activists. Many of you have heard the audio. As I said, it could kill us. Because everyone told us to run away. Then that night I was at that teacher's house in DU. Everything has a limit.'
The legal adviser said, 'There will be differences between us. We will critique each other's work. But why lie? People tell me you clear (clarify the complaint). I say, what do I clear? People protest if they are close to the truth. There needs to be a limit to stupidity. Of course, this is happening not only in my case, but in the case of everyone.' News: Bass
