Discussion on bringing hydroelectric power from Nepal


Ghanshyam Bhandari, Ambassador of Nepal appointed in Dhaka, held a meeting with BNP leaders. The meeting started on Monday (October 28) at 10:30 am at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan.

Lalita Silwal, Deputy Ambassador of Nepal appointed to Dhaka, was also present in this hour-long meeting. Besides, among the BNP leaders, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and International Affairs Committee member Shama Obaid were present.

After the meeting, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that Bangladesh has a long-standing relationship with Nepal. There were various types of cooperation. But the potential that was there could not be fully utilized. Couldn't get Sark to the right place. Agreed on strengthening SAARC and making full use of its potential. Economic potential should be exploited.

He said, Bangladesh can benefit by utilizing the huge potential of Nepal's hydroelectric power. We can eliminate the stigmatized chapter of last 15 years of power sector by using regional pool or directly bring it into use.

Khosru said, it was discussed in the meeting to work together to uphold the democratic governance system. Friendly relations with democratic Bangladesh should be maintained. The relationship will progress by maintaining the rule of law, security of life and regional cooperation.

Amir Khosru said that there was a discussion in the meeting to work together to improve the education system between the two countries.
