Religious advisor. AFM Khalid Hossain said, the demand to nationalize individual Ibtedayi madrasas is very logical. He said this while speaking as the chief guest in a discussion on 'Disparity-stricken Independent Ibtedayi Madrasahs: The Path to Transition' organized by the Independent Ibtedayi Madrasa Teachers' Forum at Akram Khan Auditorium of the National Press Club in the capital on Saturday (November 23) afternoon.
The religious advisor said, “If we cannot nurture Ibtedayi madrasahs, then the future of Islamic education in this country is dark.” The former prime minister announced that five thousand Ibtedayi madrasas should be included in the MPO, but it was not implemented due to various reasons.
He agreed with the demands of the Independent Ibtedayi Madrasah Teachers' Forum.
The religious adviser also said that there are teacher training institutes for training teachers of government primary schools in the country. But there is no system of training for teachers in Ibtedayi Madrasas. It's discrimination. This disparity needs to be addressed.
Dr. Khalid said, Ibtedayi Madrasa is not under the Ministry of Religion, it is under the Ministry of Education. He advised the forum leaders to approach the Education Adviser regarding their demands. Besides, the adviser assured the leaders of the forum of all possible cooperation on his part.
Dr. Khalid also said that the majority of the citizens of Bangladesh are Muslims. There are also Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and small ethnic groups. Religious practice, observance and propagation of religion are constitutional rights of all citizens. He said, the curriculum of this country should include our history, traditions, Iman, Aqeedah, ideals of Quran and Sunnah etc. Otherwise our education system will remain incomplete. Hindus, Buddhists and Christians will learn their religion. We have no objection to this. Likewise, Muslims should have the right to be educated about their Qur'an, Sunnah, Iman, Aqeedah. He also said that in the past there have been repeated conspiracies to shrink Islamic education in this country. This plot will not continue in the future.
