DBC demands reinstatement of sacked workers within 48 hours


Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) have strongly condemned and protested the dismissal of four journalists from DBC Television. The leaders demanded that they be reinstated in their respective positions within the next 48 hours. Otherwise, they warned that the DBC office will be besieged next Wednesday (November 6).

A joint statement was released on Sunday (November 2) by Acting President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Obaidur Rahman Shaheen, Secretary General Quader Gani Chowdhury, President of Dhaka Journalists Union (DUJ). Shahidul Islam and General Secretary Khurshid Alam.

In the statement, they claimed that four journalists were fired in a completely dictatorial manner without regard to any rules and regulations for protesting various injustices, including sexual harassment of women journalists, attempts to divert the student movement in July-August and inciting the then government to suppress the movement. .

In the statement, they demanded reinstatement of those four journalists who were fired by DBS within the next 48 hours. At the same time, he also demanded to remove the friends of dictatorship and bring back order in the institution.

If their demands are not met, they warned the authorities to be ready to take responsibility for any untoward incident, including surrounding the DBC office next Wednesday.
