Crowd of millions of people, idol immersion in the sea, death of a youth in a collision between two boats – Bangladesh a youth died in Durga idol immersion on Cox's Bazar beach

In the presence of hundreds of thousands of people at Labani Point of Cox's Bazar beach, the idol worship went on for almost the whole day. Through religious rituals, the largest idol was dedicated in Durga Puja this time in Bangladesh. A 'Victory Conference' was organized on the beach from noon on Sunday. Many idols of Cox's Bazar district and surrounding areas are brought to Sagar Beach. The entire area was crowded with tourists and local visitors for the whole day. About three to four lakh people chanted the slogans of Devi Vandana. Hindus came for the dedication ceremony. On the other hand, others, including Muslims, came to share the joy of the festival. Millions of tourists from home and abroad come to Cox's Bazar during the Durga Puja holidays.

Acting President of Cox's Bazar District Puja Celebration Council, Uday Shankar Pal Mithu said, 'The country's largest idol immersion ceremony ended peacefully with the gathering of more than three to four lakh people on the beach. More than 250 idols have been sacrificed.'

Meanwhile, on this afternoon, a stream of devotees descended on the banks of the Buriganga river for the immersion of the idol of the capital Dhaka. On this day, around 12 noon, the immersion process started in the Buriganga river by immersing the idol in the Pujomandap of Paltan police station. Pilgrims thronged the ghats of different districts to perform puja. Law enforcement forces like Army, Police, RAB, BGB were deployed to avoid any untoward incident.

Along with the dedication, vermilion games were also organized in many mandaps. Meanwhile, a teenager died in a collision between two boats while immersing idols in Jhenai river in Kalihati in Tangail district. According to local and police sources, the name of the deceased is Apu Pal (12).

His home is in South Betdoba village of Kalihati. According to the police, two boats collided in the afternoon due to high speed of the engine-driven boat. Several people including the teenager were injured. All were taken to hospital. The teenager died in the hospital.
