Chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus urged the top executives of the multinational companies operating in Bangladesh to work in unison with the government. He emphasized on promoting Bangladesh to investors as well as expanding the existing business opportunities. The chief adviser said, 'We have to work together as members of a team. We are a team for the country.'
The Chief Adviser made this call in a meeting with the resident heads of multinational companies operating in Bangladesh at the Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Tuesday. At this time he said, 'You become the country's brand ambassador, which will encourage potential investors to come to Bangladesh.'
Chief Adviser's Special Envoy Lutfe Siddiqui, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Haroon and National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan were present.
Top executives of multinational companies discussed business and investment opportunities in Bangladesh with the Chief Advisor. Business leaders urged the government to ensure predictability of licensing and tax rates and policies, improve ease of doing business, make bidder one-stop services more effective and improve credit ratings. They said, if these are done, investors will be encouraged to come to Bangladesh.
The business leaders appreciated the government's initiative to reform labor rights and assured their full cooperation in this regard.
The Chief Adviser urged the executives to maintain transparency in the conduct of business. He said, 'Help us identify the problems we have in running the business, so we can solve them.'
