According to the sources of fish import organization, the organization has started the export of hilsa after getting permission from the government of Bangladesh. If everything goes well, Padma Hilsa will enter through the Petrapol border on Thursday. Ibrahim Halsana, on behalf of Bangladesh Exporters Association, said Hilsa will reach the Petrapol border on Thursday evening. President of 'Fish Importers Association' Kolkata Syed Anwar Maksud said that Bangladeshi hilsa will be available in the market from Friday.
However, the price of imported hilsa fish has not been decided yet. He said that there is a possibility that the price will be high this time. First this fish will be sent to the markets of Howrah, Patipukur, Sealdah and Siliguri. Maqsood also said that this Ilshi will be available in all parts of the state from Saturday.
Hilsa was exported at $10 per kg last year. This time the price is a little higher. Since 2019, Sheikh Hasina's government allowed the export of hilsa just before Puja. The interim government of Bangladesh said that hilsa will not be exported this year. Finally they changed their mind. Earlier it was reported that 3 thousand tons of hilsa will be sent to India.
But on Wednesday, the Ministry of Commerce there allowed the export of 2,420 tonnes of hilsa. 49 institutions have been granted this permission subject to conditions. Among them, 48 companies will export 50 tons and one company will export 20 tons of hilsa. This hilsa export has been allowed till October 12.
