According to the Facebook post, March 7, March 17, August 5, August 8, August 15, October 18, November 4 and December 12 will no longer be observed as national days.
Incidentally, March 17 is the birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This day was celebrated as National Children's Day in Bangladesh. August 5 is the birthday of Sheikh Hasina's brother Sheikh Kamal and August 8 is the birth anniversary of 'Bangamata' Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib. Bangabandhu was killed in his family on August 15, 1975. This day is observed as National Day of Mourning till now. There were also Sheikh Russell Day (Sheikh Hasina's younger brother) on 18 October, National Constitution Day on 4 November and Smart Bangladesh Day on 12 December.
Sheikh Hasina's government fell on August 5 this year. An interim government was then formed. Soon after, on Bangabandhu's death anniversary, the Yunus government canceled the National Day holiday. However, it was criticized and strongly protested by Hasina and Awami League.
