Australia's last 'amateur' cricketer has passed away

Redpath, who was awarded an MBE by the state of Victoria in 1975, was inducted into Cricket Australia's Hall of Fame in 2023. This year Geelong Cricket Club renamed their scoreboard after Redpath.

Expressing grief over Redpath's death, Cricket Australia chairman Mike Baird said, 'Ian was loved and respected by all, and all of Australian cricket is deeply saddened by his death. Ian was an excellent opening batsman at one time one of the best in Australian cricket.'
