Asif Nazrul harassment case, recall of labor counselor in Geneva


Adviser in charge of Ministry of Law, Justice and Expatriate Welfare. Bangladesh Mission in Geneva Labor Counselor Muhammad Kamrul Islam has been issued an office order in connection with the harassment of Asif Nazrul at Geneva airport. He has been asked to return to Dhaka at the earliest.

November 10 Dr. An order signed by Nasheed Rizwana Morin said that First Secretary (Labour) Mohammad Kamrul Islam, working in the Labor Welfare Wing at Bangladesh Permanent Mission, Geneva, Switzerland, has been withdrawn from the concerned Labor Welfare Wing on administrative grounds. In the same incident, a decision was made to dismiss Mizan, a former employee of the Ministry of Commerce who was appointed as a local staff. Besides, the process of taking legal action against them has been started after identifying almost all of them, including the 3 masterminds of the harassment incident.

On November 7, a video of Asif Nazrul being harassed by some people at the airport on his way back home after his visit went viral on social media. In the video, a group of people surround Asif Nazrul and argue in abusive language, repeatedly asking, 'You lied.' In the video, Asif Nazrul can be heard saying, 'Why are you putting your hands on him?' At one point, the harassers were seen chanting 'Jai Bangla, Jai Bangabandhu'.
