Another 70 people returned on the seventh flight from Lebanon


Another 70 stranded Bangladeshis willing to return home voluntarily from war-torn Lebanon have been brought back. They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via Dubai on an Emirates flight at 11 pm on Sunday. They were brought back in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, Bangladesh Embassy, ​​Beirut, Lebanon and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that a total of 338 Bangladeshis have been repatriated from Lebanon so far at the full government expense. Earlier, 268 people were repatriated from Lebanon, which was hit by an Israeli attack.

Among them, 54 returned in the first round on October 21. After that, 96 people were repatriated in two flights on October 23, 30 at midnight on October 28, 36 at night on October 29 and 52 on October 31.

Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) welcomed these destitute Bangladeshi nationals who were repatriated.

On behalf of IOM, each person repatriated from Lebanon is provided with 5 thousand taka, some food items and basic medical treatment.

Another 70 people returned on the seventh flight from Lebanon.

The government will bring back to the country at its own expense all the expatriate Bangladeshis who want to return to the country due to the recent war in Lebanon. The Embassy of Bangladesh has taken maximum efforts to ensure the safe return of Bangladeshis who wish to return home from Beirut and to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi expatriates who do not wish to return.

In a notification, the Bangladesh Embassy located in Beirut said that due to the ongoing war situation in Lebanon, among the expatriate Bangladeshis who have applied to the embassy voluntarily to go to the country and who have the necessary travel documents including passport, aqama, they have completed all the procedures and arranged to be sent to the country under the management of the embassy.

The embassy also said that another 32 people will return home on another flight at 11 pm on Tuesday. They will depart from Rafic Hariri Airport in Beirut this morning.
