The incident of attack by the supporters of 'Hindu Sanchash Samiti' on the premises of the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, the capital of India's north-eastern state of Tripura, has deeply angered the Bangladesh government. A series of events there prove that premeditated breaching of the mission's main gate was allowed to invade the premises.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed this information in a notification on Monday evening.
According to the notification, the government of Bangladesh is deeply angered by the violent protest and attack by a large group of protesters of the Hindu Conflict Society on the premises of the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala on Monday morning.
According to the notification, the events received conclusively proved that the protestors were systematically allowed to break down the main gate of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission and invade the premises. In the process, in the presence of members of local law enforcement agencies, they vandalized flagpoles, desecrated the national flag of Bangladesh and damaged property inside the Assistant High Commission. Regrettably, the local policemen in charge of guarding the premises were not active in controlling the situation from the beginning.
The notification also said that all the members of the Assistant High Commission are suffering from severe insecurity. The Government of Bangladesh would like to emphasize that this heinous attack on a diplomatic mission of Bangladesh and the desecration of the national flag of Bangladesh has become a casual example. A similar violent protest took place in Kolkata on November 28. This particular act in Agartala is a violation of the Vienna Charter on Diplomatic Relations.
According to the notification of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is the responsibility of the government of the host country to protect the diplomatic missions from any kind of intrusion or damage. Therefore, the Government of Bangladesh is calling upon the Government of India to take immediate measures to deal with this incident and conduct a thorough investigation of the incident. At the same time, the notification urged the Indian government to prevent any kind of violence in the diplomatic mission of Bangladesh, strengthen the security of diplomatic and non-diplomatic members and their family members.
