Abroad for 10 years to avoid a three-month sentence, arrested after returning home


Sonaimuri of Noakhali. Police have arrested a convicted accused named Nizam Uddin (50). He fled to Saudi Arabia for 10 years to avoid a three-month sentence.

He was arrested from Vanuai village of the upazila on Thursday (October 10) morning. Nizam Uddin is the son of deceased Manu Mia of that village.

Sonaimuri Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Morshed Alam confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said, on the basis of secret information, Deputy Inspector (SI) Md. Masum Rana arrested accused Nizam Uddin who returned to Saudi Arabia by conducting a special operation. The court sentenced him to three months in a case filed by his wife in 2014. He fled abroad for a long time to avoid punishment.
