A 'red notice' is being issued to arrest Sheikh Hasina: Legal Adviser

A 'red notice' is being issued through Interpol to arrest fugitives abroad, including former prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, on charges of July genocide. This is what the legal adviser of the interim government said. Asif Nazrul He said this today while visiting the progress of reforming the International Criminal Tribunal on Sunday.

Adviser Asif Nazrul said, 'In order to mislead the world public opinion, an application has been filed against the chief adviser and others at the International Criminal Court in The Hague in the Netherlands.'

At that time, the legal advisor said that the government is not taking into consideration the complaint of the Awami League given to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and said, 'Awami League has filed a complaint against the government in the ICC to undermine the country's dignity. The complaint cannot be accepted at all.'

Asif Nazrul also said, 'It is not a case, it is a petition written to the ICC prosecution office. Anyone in the world can do it. It is a case so unbelievable and without objectivity that there is absolutely no reason for this writ. This is done by the fascist clique as a means of spreading false propaganda to mislead the world public opinion and the people of Bangladesh and to protect themselves.'

Tajul Islam, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, said, “If the government's instructions are received, steps will be taken to prosecute Awami League as a party.”

The renovation of the building of the International Criminal Tribunal, which was formed to try the allegations of genocide and crimes against humanity committed in July-August to eradicate the anti-discrimination student movement, is in the final stage. It can be seen on the surface, the workers are busy in various renovation works of the historic white building of the tribunal (old high court building). Apart from this, the garden adjacent to the tribunal is being redecorated.

The overall supervision of this renovation work is being done by the Ministry of Public Works. Where hundreds of Karmas are working regularly. In this regard, Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam said, 'The tribunal building is being prepared in such a way that the trial proceedings of international standards will continue. The building was very dilapidated before the renovation.'

Several rounds of reformation of the International Criminal Tribunal, including today, have been visited by legal advisor Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan. Due to the ongoing renovation of the (old) main building of the tribunal, judicial proceedings have started in the adjacent (temporary) building for the time being.

The International Criminal Tribunal was reconstituted on October 14. High Court Judge Golam Mortuza Majumdar was appointed as the chairman of the tribunal. High Court Judge Shafiul Alam Mahmud and retired District and Sessions Judge Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury were appointed as members of the tribunal. Prior to this, prosecution and investigation agencies including the Chief Prosecutor were appointed.

Former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina left the country and went to India after resigning in the mass uprising of anti-discrimination students. Through this, the Awami League government, which was in power for 16 consecutive years, collapsed.
