Eyewitnesses said that in Karnaphuli complex there are more than hundred shops of various products including grocery, raw market, fish and meat, crockery. However, the fire started from a shop outside the main complex. Later it spread to two other shops nearby.
Abdullah Noman, the owner of Shahjalal Store in Karnaphuli Complex, told Prothom Alo that the fire service was able to put out the fire. Three to four shops were burnt. They were saved from major accidents.
