Personal Correspondent: The government has declared a general holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja. On the other hand, next 11th and 12th October Friday and Saturday will be weekend. And October 13 (Sunday) is a holiday for worship. In all, 4 consecutive days of vacation have started from today.
A notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration last Tuesday (October 8) announcing a nationwide general holiday on October 10 by executive order.
All government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous and private offices will remain closed during general holidays, the notification said.
However, emergency services such as electricity, water, gas and other fuels, fire service, port operations, cleaning operations, telephone and internet, postal services and vehicles and workers engaged in these related services will be outside the scope of this holiday, the notification said.
It also said that hospitals and emergency services and the staff associated with these services will be out of the ambit of this holiday. Doctors and staff engaged in medical services and vehicles and staff carrying medical equipment including medicines will also be outside the ambit of this holiday.
Offices dealing with urgent work will be exempted from this holiday.
