Arab Finance: Dr. Rania Al -Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Abdel Hakim Al -Waer, Assistant Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the regional representative of the Near East and North Africa, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in the areas of sustainable agriculture, food security, climate financing, and to discuss joint efforts to enhance comprehensive economic development in light of the comprehensive partnership between Egypt And the United Nations Organization, according to Statement cabinet.
Al -Mashat reviewed the priorities and powers of the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, after the merger between the two ministries; Where the Ministry is working to coordinate long -term economic and social policies, in addition to overseeing public investments, noting the framework of sustainability and financing for economic development, through which the Ministry aims to support efforts to achieve qualitative and sustainable growth. She emphasized that the merging between the two planning, economic development and international cooperation bags contributes to maximizing integration between local resources and international partnerships, and enhancing their benefit.
Al -Mashat also pointed to the development of the investments of the agricultural and land reclamation sector in the economic and social development plan to grow by 20% in the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year, noting the great interest the state attaches to the sector in order to maximize food security efforts and increase the export of agricultural crops and its vital role in operating employment, as it is one of the most operating sectors.
The meeting witnessed discussions on the implementation of the Qatar Food and Agriculture program in Egypt, and the joint efforts with the government to enhance food security efforts in line with national priorities, whether by increasing investment in human capital and strengthening social protection efforts, as well as supporting the ability to adapt to climate changes and enhance the efficiency of natural resources use, and push comprehensive and sustainable economic development.
