Anti-Aircraft Countries: The powerful countries of the world have created defense systems to protect themselves from enemies. Anti-aircraft missile system (AAM) is also included in these to protect against air attacks. Recently, it was used extensively in the war between Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas and proved to be very helpful.
In such a situation, we will know about those five countries of the world which have top anti-aircraft missile systems and how many there are. Before this, it is also important to know what is this anti-aircraft missile system?
About Anti-Aircraft Missile System
An anti-aircraft missile is a guided missile designed to destroy or damage enemy aircraft. These missiles can be launched from land, sea or air and are an important part of modern defense systems. They work by detecting, tracking and intercepting incoming aircraft or missiles, neutralizing aerial threats before they can cause damage. Anti-aircraft missiles are essential to protect military assets, infrastructure and civilian areas from air attacks.
Countries having top anti-aircraft missile systems
1. China has the HQ-9 long-range anti-aircraft missile system, which is designed to target and destroy enemy aircraft, cruise missiles, air-to-surface missiles, tactical ballistic missiles and helicopters.
It works both day and night, regardless of weather conditions. Development of the HongQi 9 began in the early 1980s, initially inspired by the American Patriot air defense missile system.
2. America has Patriot (MIM-104), which is short for Phased Array Tracking Radar to Intercept on Target. It is an all-weather, all-altitude air defense system developed to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and advanced aircraft.
It was added to the US Army's arsenal in 1974. This system can detect about 100 missiles simultaneously. Its smallest tactical and fire sub-unit, the battery consists of 4-8 launchers (PU) with four missiles each.
3. The SAMP-T complex (Eurosam) system is a joint creation of France and Italy, designed for use in all weather conditions and resistant to intense enemy jamming and interception. It provides air defense for machine units and marching troops, as well as protection of important fixed sites from aerial threats.
EuroSAM, a European consortium formed by Aerospatiale, Alenia and Thomson-CSF in June 1989, developed the system. Along with its land-based capabilities, the SAAM (PAAMS) naval SAM system is deployed on ships of the French and Italian navies.
3. The SAM or GTAM David Sling is an Israeli medium to long-range air and missile defense system jointly developed by Israeli defense contractor Rafael and American defense contractor Raytheon.
The system is part of a multi-layered defensive array, providing comprehensive coverage and protection. It represents the next generation of Israeli missile systems, intended to replace the MIM-23 Hawk and MIM-104 Patriot in Israel's arsenal.
4-5 According to TOI report, India and Russia have S-400 Triumph system. The S-400 is a surface-to-air missile system developed in the 1990s by Russia's Almaz Central Design Bureau. Many types of missiles are included in this system. Its strike range is up to 400 km, while the detection range is more than 600 km. India also has five of its units.
