To investigate the bus accident in Marchula, the Transport Headquarters had suspended ARTO Enforcement Pauri and ARTO Enforcement Ramnagar on the instructions of the CM. On Monday itself, an investigation team headed by Deputy Transport Commissioner Rajeev Mehra was sent to the spot, which is still engaged in investigation. Based on the information received from eyewitnesses, the department prima facie found five reasons for the accident.
Firstly, the vehicle is overloaded, secondly, the vehicle's spring is broken, thirdly, the road is narrow and full of potholes, fourthly, there is no crash barrier and fifthly, less availability of vehicles compared to the number of passengers on the festival. Investigation is going on rapidly on all aspects.
On the other hand, the accident has exposed the road safety arrangements. In two years, Rs 7 crore was given to the Public Works Department for installing crash barriers here. Despite this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his strong displeasure over not installing the crash barrier and has ordered an investigation.
Earlier on Monday itself, on the orders of CM, two in-charge ARTOs were suspended.
