Jatiya Nagrik Party convener and opposition chief whip Nahid Islam said, ‘ACC chairman has been forced to resign under pressure, Bangladesh Bank governor has been mobbed and forced to leave the institution. During the previous Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, we saw how the state institutions, the judiciary, the administration, the police—everything was partisanised. Same trend. It has not even been a month of this government, we can see that trend from the beginning.
He said these things at the pre-iftar discussion meeting at Ambika Memorial Maidan in Faridpur city on Saturday evening. Leaders of 11 parties including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami participated in it.
Nahid Islam said, ‘Since the beginning of this government, it is clear how Bangladesh wants to be managed and in which direction it wants to take it. If any power, any government stands against reform, against justice, the people of Bangladesh will not accept it. Jatiya Nagrik Party and 11 parties will not accept that in any way. We wanted to work with this government, still want to be in parliament as a responsible opposition party. But for that, the government has to behave responsibly.’
At this time, among others, the northern chief coordinator of the party Sarjis Alam, Member of Parliament of Faridpur-1 Constituency Md. Elias Molya and many others.
