'Student politics should be a means of realizing the rights of students'

Student politics has so long been a means of fao eating, occupation, party making. It has to come out. Student politics should be student-friendly, a means of realizing students' rights. There is no alternative to Daksu for this.

On Sunday (October 27) afternoon, the speakers said these things at the discussion meeting titled 'What kind of student politics do we want on the campus after the July popular uprising' organized at the Swaparjit Independence Square of Dhaka University. Bangladesh Student Rights Council organized this.

On the occasion, former VP of Daksu and President of Public Rights Council Nurul Haque Noor said, 'If you review the politics of the last 53 years, it will be seen that Chhatra Adhikar Parishad is the highest self-sacrificing organization for the rights of students. We don't have any leaders who don't have the marks of torture by the Chhatra League. Last year I was attacked in this Dhaka University. Golam Rabbani was the worst proctor in the history of Dhaka University. At his suggestion, the BCL leaders used to beat up the students. He used to look.' At that time, he also gave an opinion on the banning of Awami League and its allies and the continuation of fair politics in universities.

Professor Robayet Ferdous of DU's Department of Mass Communication and Journalism said, 'I was a student of Suryasen Hall. I saw how students were thrown out of halls on winter nights in Konkan. They brutally tortured the whole night for not doing the program of Chhatra League. We should pay attention to the fact that students do not have to program for hours in the name of student politics. Politics should work for students' rights. The administration has to ensure that students do not have to approach any leader for seats.'

Nasir Uddin, Professor of English Department of Jagannath University, said, 'I want to answer the question whether students want politics, first of all, there is a need for student politics. If there is no student politics then the students will not know about the brutality of the previous government for 16 years. Student politics should be in favor of students' studies, they should get seats even in the first year, they should not have to worry about housing, we want such student politics.

Publicity and media secretary of DU camp, Zubair Hasan said, 'I will answer the question of how students want politics, politics will be for students. Students want politics that will work to improve the quality of education. But the shadow of black politics of their past has brainwashed them. Students should do politics to get their rights.'

Yasin Arafat, president of the Islamic Students Movement DU branch, said, 'Political parties must co-exist. Care should be taken that everyone can discuss against all parties.' He also commented that Daksu has no alternative at this time.

Organizing Secretary of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front DU branch Mozammel Haque Mozammel Haque said, 'Before August 5, there was no politics. In the name of politics, eating food, occupying the hall, students were tortured by the Chhatra League, the friend of the fascist organization. We do not want to see such brutality in the future. We have to see that students get seats in the first year itself. We should also see that no political party can trade with students. Politics should be student-friendly.
