Israeli troops withdraw from Gaza hospital

Israel withdraws troops from a hospital in northern Gaza. They took this step on Saturday (October 26) a day after conducting a surprise raid on the hospital. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority claimed the Israelis had detained dozens of male medical workers and patients. British news agency Reuters reported this.

Health officials said Israeli forces attacked Kamal Ad One Hospital on Friday. This hospital is one of the three active health centers in the area.

Gaza's health ministry released footage of some of the damaged buildings after the Israeli army left. However, Reuters could not verify the authenticity of the video until writing this report.

The doctors said that at least 44 of the 70 members of the hospital have been detained by the army. Later it was said that Israel released 14 people including the director of the hospital.

An Israeli army spokesman declined to comment when asked about the raid on the hospital.

However, the country's military claimed on Friday that the operation was based on “intelligence information” about the “presence of terrorists and their infrastructure” in the hospital area.

Hospital authorities said the army set fire to the building's generator and oxygen station. At least two children died in the intensive care unit.

Israel had ordered the evacuation of the hospital before the operation. But the doctors refused to leave the patients. Authorities said that at least six hundred people, including patients and their relatives, were in the hospital before the operation.

Health Ministry official Marwan Al-Hams said hospital patients are now deprived of the services of health workers and essential medicines. Their safety and lives are at risk.

Ministry officials claimed three nurses were injured and three ambulances were destroyed during the Israeli operation.

They also said that in the last three weeks, almost 800 people have lost their lives in the Israeli attacks in Jabalia, Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya.

Meanwhile, Israel claimed three soldiers were killed during Friday's operation. They also said that operations in northern Gaza have been resumed to root out regrouped Hamas members.
