Harmonious coexistence is important for country's stability and development: Dharma Adviser


Religious advisor. AFM Khalid Hossain said, Bangladesh is a diverse country. People of Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities live in a harmonious environment in this country. This harmonious coexistence is very important for the stability and development of the country.

The adviser made these remarks while addressing the chief guest at the National Dialogue on 'Religious Harmony: Reality and Action' at the Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan in the capital on Saturday (October 26).

The National Dialogue was organized by The Hunger Project Bangladesh in collaboration with FCDO with the motto 'Bangladesh Gari of Peace and Harmony not Conflict'.

The religious advisor said, Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony since time immemorial. People of different religions and tribes have been living in harmony since ancient times in this country. Whatever we have achieved as a nation is due to the united efforts and contributions of people of different religions and communities.

The religious adviser also said that communal harmony is a symbol of our unity and strength. In the context of the post-July Revolution, communal harmony and cordial environment must be maintained to build the country that we dream of a non-discrimination Bangladesh.

Dr. Khalid said that every citizen of Bangladesh has equal rights. Everyone has the right to practice, practice and propagate religion freely. The government is careful that no one can disturb this right. The government will not allow any miscreant to create an unstable environment. He said, those who want to disturb the environment by attacking places of worship – they are miscreants, they have no religious identity.

Dr. Khalid also said that religious harmony is essential for building peace, social cohesion and a strong national identity. He urged everyone to play a responsible role in maintaining communal harmony and cordial atmosphere.

Global Vice President and Country Director of The Hunger Project Bangladesh. President of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Samaj Sanskar Samity Prof. Shri Hirendra Nath Biswas, Bishop Philip P. Adhikari of Talithakumi Church and General Secretary of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation Sunandapriya etc. spoke at the event under the chairmanship of Badiul Alam Majumdar.

In this dialogue, Associate Professor of Political Science Department of Dhaka University, Mamun Al Mustafa presented the article entitled 'Religion and Culture of Bangladesh: Tradition, Crisis and Action'. Among others, Dhaka University's supernumerary teacher Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua, Director of Islamic Foundation Muhammad Rafiq-ul-Islam and Program Advisor of Agent of Change: A Bangladesh Freedom of Religion or Belief Leadership Initiative Project. Shahnaz Karim delivered the speech. Hundreds of people from different religious communities and classes and professions participated in this dialogue.
