Mamata Banerjee: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged the police to increase security as she claims that some anti-social elements are planning to create unrest during the upcoming festival. The Trinamool Congress chief claimed that a conspiracy was being hatched to create unrest during Diwali, Kali Puja and Chhath Puja celebrations.
As a precautionary measure, he urged the state police to increase vigilance to foil any such attempt during the function. CM Mamata said, “Kali Puja is coming soon. Police and Special Task Force should gather intelligence and ensure that no blast takes place in the state. A conspiracy is being hatched to instigate communal riots and create violence in Bengal. , which must be stopped.”
This year Kali Puja is falling on 31st October, the same day as Diwali. The Chief Minister cautioned that some groups may try to destabilize religious peace during festivals, especially in Kolkata.
