In the second Test match against New Zealand i.e. in Pune, New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner completely pushed the Indian team on the back foot in the first innings. Against the Indian team, Santner did the same thing for his team as Washington Sundar did in the first innings. Did it for India. In the first innings, Santner took the same wickets as Sundar, but Santner was stingier than Sundar in terms of giving runs. In the first innings, Sundar took 7 wickets for 59 runs in 23.1 overs for India, while Mitchell Santner took 53 wickets in 19.3 overs. Took 7 wickets giving runs.
Santner's bowling can be said to be better than Sundar's because the 7 Indian batsmen whom Santner made his victims in the first innings include names of spin players like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Dharandar. One similarity between both the bowlers was that both of them used their straight balls with great technique. Sundar bowled out 5 batsmen in the first innings while one batsman was out LBW. Santner got four batsmen out LBW and two batsmen were out bowled.
Washington Sundar shines in the second innings too
Even in the second innings, the Kiwi team had no solution to Sundar's bowling. On the second day too, Sundar bowled the most for India and sent four top order batsmen to the pavilion. Sundar continuously attacked the stumps and his straight balls did wonders in the second innings also. With his floater, Sundar hunted both openers Latham and Conway and bowled out Rachin Ravindra in the first innings. Sundar, who has so far taken 4 wickets in the second innings and 11 wickets in the match, celebrated his return but he knows what Santner can do on the Pune pitch. The Kiwi team has a lead of 301 runs and the Indian team has to play the last innings. The fight between Santner and Sundar will continue on the third day of the test match. On one hand, Sundar will have to clean up the rest of the Kiwi batsmen, while Santner will try to give a historic victory to the Kiwi team with his spell.
