Bangladesh mp 24 luxury cars are in auction – Bangladesh mp 24 luxury cars are in auction

After being elected as an MP, luxury cars were bought with special privileges. But they could not use that car worth more than crores of rupees. The MPs could not bring those cars out of the Chittagong Port due to the dissolution of Parliament. This time 24 such luxury cars are being auctioned. The price of these cars is around 288 crores. Bangladesh MPs get the opportunity to import cars from abroad under duty free facility. With that advantage, in January this year, many people bought such expensive and luxurious cars after becoming MPs. A few MPs including cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and barrister Suman also brought the vehicle. But due to the collapse of the parliament, many could not bring that car. As Parliament is dissolved, MPs do not have access to duty-free vehicles. For that reason, 24 luxury cars worth 288 crores brought for them are going to be auctioned. Among them are 15 Landcruisers.

It is known that the members of the 12th parliament imported this car under duty free facility. On September 14, those cars were brought to the carshed of Chittagong port. As per the law, these vehicles were supposed to be cleared and taken away by October 14. But due to the dissolution of Parliament in August itself, the MPs failed to take advantage of the duty-free benefits. Some MPs have been arrested. A few other MPs are hiding.

According to Bangladeshi media reports, the papers related to the auction of those 24 cars are in the auction branch of Chittagong Customs House. On Wednesday evening, the documents of 18 vehicles went from the port to the auction wing of customs. Also, to avoid complications, before auctioning the remaining 6 vehicles, the opinion of the importer has also been sought as per rules.

Who will not get government jobs in Bangladesh, announced the interim government

Secretary of Chittagong port Mohammad Omar Farooq said, 'As 30 days have passed after arriving at the port, the vehicles will be auctioned as per the rules. The documents have already been sent to the customs house. They will take the rest of the measures in this regard.'

Saidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Customs House, said that letters have already been given to the importers of 6 cars. If they do not respond to the letter, they will also be auctioned.

Incidentally, in the case of importing a car into Bangladesh, the duty has to be paid at the rate of 850 percent on the import price. Although the market value of a car is Tk 10 to 12 crore, MPs get the opportunity to own that car for only Tk 1.3 crore.
