BNP issues 24-hour notice to Rabi for alleged involvement in murder of Deepta TV official


The party has issued a show-cause notice to BNP Central Executive Committee member Sheikh Rabiul Alam (Rabi) for his involvement in the death of Tanzil Jahan Tamim, a broadcasting officer of private Deepta Television, in a dispute over a flat road. A letter was sent to him on Friday (October 11) seeking a response within the next 24 hours.

The letter signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of BNP, says, 'A news has been published in different media that you are involved in the killing of Tanzil Jahan, the broadcasting officer of Deepta TV, in a terrorist attack yesterday (Thursday). Allegations of involvement in such terrorist activities have damaged the discipline and image of the party. Therefore, you are directed to submit a written reply within the next 24 hours to the party's central office in Nayapaltan, showing proper reasons as to why organizational action should not be taken against you.'

Incidentally, Tanzil Jahan Islam alias Tamim (34) son of the owner of the land was killed due to a dispute with a housing construction company called Pleasant Property in the Hatirjheel area of ​​the capital on Thursday. Tanzil was the broadcasting officer of Deepta TV, a private television channel in Dhaka.

According to a law enforcement source, Ravi's involvement with Hatirjheel murder is being closely monitored. It is believed that he may be expelled from the party for his involvement in this activity. Earlier, Sheikh Rabiul's name came up in several accidents in Newmarket, Kanthalbagan area.
