The Ministry of External Affairs had recalled its High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma on October 14.

Sanjay Kumar Verma, who was India's High Commissioner to Canada, said on Thursday that Canada has betrayed India. He said that Canada had not given any evidence to India in the Nijjar murder case. He said that the allegations made by Canada against India in the Nijjar murder case were inspired by vote bank politics.

Sanjay Kumar Verma was recently recalled from Canada by the Central Government due to security reasons. In an interview given to news agency ANI, Verma said that India, being a responsible democracy, does not interfere in the internal affairs of any country.

He said, many Khalistani terrorists are Canadian citizens, who have political influence. These Khalistani terrorists are harming India and Canada relations. According to Verma, these terrorists impose their opinions on political parties.

High Commissioner Verma also expressed his views on the allegations leveled against Nijjar regarding his murder. Verma described it as quite painful. He said-

Verma expressed regret that he could not complete the work for which he was sent. He said that if the interests of my country are harmed, it is my duty to protect them.

India and Canada expelled each other's 6 diplomats

Due to tension in relations with Canada, India on Monday, October 14, expelled 6 Canadian diplomats, including Acting High Commissioner Stewart Ross Wheeler, from the country. He was given time till 12 midnight on 19th October. Canada had also asked 6 diplomats of India to leave the country.

However, even before this, the Indian Foreign Ministry had also recalled its High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma. In fact, the Trudeau government had sent a letter to the Indian government on October 13. In this, the Indian High Commissioner and some other diplomats were named suspects in the murder of a Canadian citizen.

Trudeau admitted – no concrete evidence against India

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared before a Canadian government commission on October 16. During this, he admitted that last year in September 2023, when he had alleged the involvement of Indian agents in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, he had only intelligence information. There was no concrete evidence.

However, after Trudeau's allegations, there have been many such occasions in the year when his government claimed that it had given evidence related to the Nijjar massacre to India. Whereas India has been rejecting these claims. At present, the Canadian PM has not clarified whether his government has now given the evidence to India or not.
