The students' federation demands banning of Chhatra League following the judicial process

The Bangladesh Students Federation has demanded a permanent solution to the ban on Chhatra League within the next six months after completing the judicial process through judicial investigation.

A press conference of the Bangladesh Students Federation was held on Thursday (October 24) at Dhaka University's Madhur Canteen in response to the executive order banning the Chhatra League. At that time, the organization made this claim.

Three demands were raised at the press conference. Their demands are:

1. Within the next six months, the judicial process should be completed through a judicial investigation and a permanent solution to ban the BCL should be made acceptable at the national and international level and those involved in all the terrorist activities organized under the leadership of the BCL in the last 15 years should be brought under the law and appropriate punishment should be ensured.

2. A special commission must be formed to ensure justice for every student killing organized since the Great War of Liberation.

3. The injured in the July uprising should be ensured better treatment and the delay in rehabilitating the families of the martyrs should be resolved quickly and the dignity of the martyrs should be confirmed by publishing the full list of the martyrs.

President of the organization Moshiur Rahman Khan Richard read the written statement at the press conference, General Secretary Secretary Saikat Arif.

In the president's speech, Moshiur Rahman Khan said, “The Chhatra League established a reign of terror in educational institutions across the country during the long fascist regime of the past 15 years. Torture of students in common room-guest room in the halls of the university, killing of students by beating them all night, rape etc. There is no crime in which Chhatra League is not involved. Chhatra League always played the role of the main baton in suppressing the democratic movement across the country. Leaders and activists of all anti-fascist political parties and student organizations have been victims of their terrorist attacks. As a result, the Chhatra League became the main partner in the massacre organized by the students against fascism.

He also said that fascist Hasina has fallen in return for the sacrifice of thousands of people. There is a desire among the people to ensure justice for all those who participated in this massacre and to ban Chhatra League, which participated in the massacre. In this situation, the interim government issued a notification banning the Chhatra League yesterday by executive order. Although this decision is justified at the moment, we think that within six months, the judicial process should be completed through a judicial investigation and a permanent solution to ban the BCL should be made acceptable at the national and international level.”

Bangladesh Students Federation Central Finance Secretary Farhana Muna, Dhaka Metropolitan Branch President Al-Amin Rahman, Dhaka University Branch Secretary Sakibur Roni, Central Committee Member Saidur Rahman, Dhaka Metropolitan Branch Vice President Tuhin Farazi and other leaders were also present in the press conference.
