Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjeev Verma Refutes PM Trudeau Allegations

Diplomat Sanjeev Verma Refutes Canadian PM Trudeau: Amidst the recent resurgence of tensions between India and Canada, India had called its ambassador back to Delhi. Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjeev Verma, upon returning to India, said that the Canadian government's allegations are baseless and it is fabricating false allegations.

The Indian High Commissioner told news agency PTI that he has not been given any kind of evidence from the Canadian authorities. Sanjeev Verma said he and five of his associates had been declared persons of interest in the murder investigation, but “no evidence was provided” by Canadian authorities. Diplomat Sanjay Verma recalled his appearance before Canadian officials, saying, “No emotion was shown, not even a trace of concern on the face.”

India gave evidence to Canada

Sanjeev Verma said that India had in fact shared detailed evidence with the Canadian government against radical and extremist groups operating in the country, but “no action was taken”. “New Delhi also made repeated requests for the extradition of 26 radicals and gang members, but nothing was done,” he said.

'Double standards' for Canada

High Commissioner Verma said this is Canada's “double standards” policy. He said, “One law for you and one law for me, this no longer works in the world.” He also mentioned that earlier the countries of the Global South were guided by the developed countries, but now it is not so.

The High Commissioner said that in his last meeting with Canadian authorities he was informed that they were now involved in a murder investigation. He said, “I had maintained cordial relations in all my meetings with the Canadian Foreign Ministry, but suddenly on October 12 I was informed that we had been linked to a murder investigation.,

Made a person of interest

High Commissioner Sanjeev Verma said that when the Indian government decided to recall him, the Canadian government made him a 'Person of Interest'. He said, “This is the first time in Indian diplomatic history that a foreign ministry official has been identified as a person of interest.”

In fact, a person of interest is a person who, even if he is not directly accused, is said to be connected to a particular case in some way or the other.

'A handful of Khalistanis have created terror'

On Canada's behaviour, diplomat Sanjay Verma said, there has been a very unprofessional attitude towards bilateral relations, it is extremely sad. Due to the poor legal system of Canada, Khalistani terrorists and extremists got shelter there, only a handful, about 10 thousand Sikh people in Canada are staunch Khalistanis, who have made Khalistan a business. Extremist Khalistani people in Canada are involved in human trafficking, collecting money through Gurudwaras for their nefarious business.

Trudeau's return to power difficult?

He said, “The number of Khalistani supporters in Canada is very small, but they shout loudly and get political protection. Not taking any action against Khalistan supporters is tantamount to promoting terrorism. Trudeau's popularity is declining. If elections are held now, it will be very difficult for them to return to power.”
