Taking serious note of the false bomb threat calls and messages, the Central Government initiated action to identify the people behind this conspiracy. Sources said the government has requested social media platforms like Meta and X to share information about such calls and messages.
The government said that these false calls are a threat to the public and hence cooperation has also been sought from multinational technology companies to identify them. According to top government sources, some people have been identified who were making false calls to plant bombs targeting flights and appropriate action is being taken in this matter. However, the government has not clarified where these false calls and messages have come from and who is behind them.
A senior official said that the government has requested Meta and X to share data related to these false calls and messages. He also said that these companies will have to cooperate, because this matter is in the larger interest of the public.
Recently several flights have received false calls and messages about bombs being planted on board. On Tuesday, around fifty flights faced bomb threats, including 13 flights each of IndiGo and Air India. Apart from this, more than 12 flights of Akasa Air and 11 flights of Vistara also received threats.
On Monday night also, about thirty flights of IndiGo, Air India and Vistara faced bomb threats. Over the last nine days, more than 170 Indian flights faced bomb threats through social media, including some international flights that had to be diverted.
