Delhi News: Delhi Police will buy 15 new forensic vans equipped with scientific kits. According to officials, after the purchase of the vehicles, the number of vans in the fleet will increase to 30. Forensic vans are under the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. The work of the van is to collect forensic evidence from the crime scene. According to Delhi Police, forensic vans are used to collect evidence from the sites of murder, shooting, rape and recovery of explosives. The vans are expected to be operational by November.
Forensic vans equipped with scientific kits are also continuously updated. In the forensic van, experts can do finger print analysis, hair, body fluid and explosive tests at the crime scene itself. The possibilities of evidence getting spoiled in the van are eliminated. Earlier, evidence collected from the crime scene was sent to the laboratory.
15 new forensic vans will join the Delhi Police fleet
But now, with the help of the kit available in Forensic One, the initial investigation is done on the spot itself. According to Delhi Police, there will also be a digital investigation kit inside the new forensic lab. Due to which mobile phones and laptops found at the scene of crime can be retrieved. Through this kit, it will be immediately known whether the data has been deleted from the device or not. Police say that the kit will be used for fingerprint collection in murder, theft and robbery cases.
With the arrival of forensic vans in the fleet, the ability of Delhi Police to investigate and collect evidence will improve. Each van will be equipped with scientific kit for use at crime scenes. After the implementation of the new criminal law, the responsibilities of the FSL team have increased.
