After the defeat in the World Cup, Team India is ready to play against New Zealand, the coach said – Next year the World Cup…

New Delhi. Indian women's team head coach Amol Majumdar said that the team will leave behind the 'disappointment' of the T20 World Cup and enter the field strongly in the three-match ODI series to be played against New Zealand on Thursday, October 24. The Indian team was defeated by New Zealand in the opening match of this World Cup played in UAE. The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur failed to reach the semi-finals while New Zealand became the champion of this tournament.

Majumdar said before the first ODI of the series, “The team and players were very hurt by the results in the World Cup. However, we need to focus on the positive things we have done as a group in the last 10 months. We had won 3-0 against South Africa in Bengaluru only a few months ago. So, we are really looking forward to the series (against New Zealand). This is an important series.”

He said, “We are a strong team and we want to focus on our strengths. Along with this, we are working on where the team needs to improve. I am sure this will be a very well fought series. New Zealand captain Sophie Devine said that it will be a big challenge for the Indian team to face in these conditions.

“Playing against India in their conditions will always be a big challenge,” he said. So, we're really excited about that challenge. We will try to carry forward the momentum achieved in the T20 World Cup. At stake for us in this series is securing qualification points for the World Cup. Therefore our first priority is to achieve qualification for next year's World Cup. I think we're in a really good position to come here and have some success.”
