'If we start hearing such cases, there will be flood', Supreme Court said on bulldozer action in UP-Uttarakhand and Rajasthan

The Supreme Court refused to hear a petition filed against some recent bulldozer actions in UP, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. The petition was filed in the court by an organization named National Federation of Indian Women. UP's lawyer said that the action mentioned in this petition was taken on the construction surrounding the footpath. The petitioner NGO has no connection with the case. Filed the petition just after reading the newspaper.

The bench headed by Justice Gavai agreed with this and said that the petition of any affected party of the case can be heard. If people start listening to those who file petitions after reading the newspapers, there will be a flood of cases.

Last month, the Supreme Court had banned demolition i.e. bulldozer action on 17 September 2024. The court said that bulldozer action will be taken only on public encroachment. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the bulldozer action in many states including Uttar Pradesh, after which the court said this.
