Bilateral talks took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, October 23 in Kazan city of Russia. In this meeting held between the two after 5 years, emphasis was laid on resolving the border dispute as soon as possible, maintaining mutual cooperation and mutual trust.

This was the first bilateral meeting of the two leaders after the Galwan clash in 2020. In a 50-minute conversation, PM Modi said, 'Maintaining peace and stability on the border should be our priority. Strategy for future was made in both the countries Special representatives of both the countries will meet soon to resolve the border dispute. This will include NSA Ajit Doval from the Indian side and Foreign Minister Wang Yi from the Chinese side. This conversation between PM Modi and Xi Jinping took place on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. Both the leaders had reached Russia on Tuesday to participate in this summit.

Earlier on October 21, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said that an agreement has been reached between India and China regarding patrolling on LAC in eastern Ladakh. This will bring back the situation before May 2020. Read full news

PM Modi returned to India last night after participating in the summit and bilaterals. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will participate on behalf of India in the BRICS Plus meeting to be held in Russia today. A total of 28 countries and 5 international organizations will participate in this meeting. After the meeting, a joint statement of BRICS countries i.e. Kazan Declaration will be issued.

Modi said- BRICS countries are representative of 40% humanity and 30% economy.

During the BRICS Summit held in Kazan on Wednesday, PM Modi said in his address that after the inclusion of new countries, BRICS represents 40% of the world's humanity and about 30% of the economy. This organization with an economy of 30 trillion dollars is capable of handling all challenges.

Also, PM Modi described India's UPI payment system as a big achievement and expressed his desire to share it with BRICS countries. He invited BRICS countries to join India's Mission Life, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign.
