Chhatra League will exist as long as there is Bangladesh: Reaction of the organization after the ban

A statement was issued by the Awami League student body after the Home Ministry issued a notification banning the Chhatra League.

The statement signed by Chhatra League President Saddam Hussain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan was shared on the Awami League's verified Facebook page on Wednesday (October 23) night.

The statement entitled 'Rejection of conspiratorial decision against Bangladesh Chhatra League and demand resignation of illegal, unconstitutional, anti-national government' says that Bangladesh Chhatra League has a history of fighting for Bengali language, freedom, democracy, equality and human dignity for ages.

It has been mentioned that the Bangladesh Chhatra League has played a role as a creator in all the movements of the people since the leadership and self-sacrifice in the great liberation war of 1971, the language movement of 1952, the education movement of 1962, the six-point movement of 1966, the mass uprising of 1969, and the great liberation war of 1971. Apart from this, Bangladesh Chhatra League has been vocal in building a democratic, egalitarian, humane and welfare state.

According to the statement of Chhatra League, Bangladesh Chhatra League has played an all-out role for a logical reform and solution during the recent quota reform movement by realizing the desire of the students. But purposefully as part of 'meticulous plan' (in fine planning) Bangladesh Chhatra League has been made to stand against the students by the anti-liberation war spirit and anti-state nefarious vested interests.

It is said that in the current crisis of the country, when the unbearable increase in commodity prices, unbridled anarchy, mob justice, killing of thousands of party leaders and workers, socio-economic and political failure in the state system are prevalent, Bangladesh bans a traditional organization like Chhatra League to hide these things. Illegal and unconstitutional government continues to try to divert attention to different sectors.

The statement said that when Sheikh Hasina organized an international inquiry into every incident that took place since July 15, the accusations that this illegal government is trying to bring against the Chhatra League with impunity for killing, destruction and terrorist activities are completely false and fabricated. Every inch of this country's 56,000 square miles is stained with the holy blood of Chhatra League leaders and activists. As long as Bangladesh exists, the red-green flag will exist, 'Amar Sonar Bangla, I love you' will exist, the slogan of 'Joy Bangla' will vibrate – until Bangladesh Chhatra League will remain immortal, indestructible.

The statement also said that the Bangladesh Chhatra League is calling on the students and youth society, farmers and workers of this country to immediately resign this illegal, anti-national government that has brought darkness to the fate of the people of Bangladesh and establish a government of democratic political power. Our struggle is bright with the vow to build Swadesh, the dying name of the entire Swadesh movement.

Earlier on Wednesday (October 23), a notification was issued by the Political Wing-2 of the Public Security Department of the Interim Government Ministry of Home Affairs banning the Bangladesh Chhatra League. It is said to declare the organization banned under the powers provided in sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the 'Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009' and to list the student organization called Chhatra League as a banned entity in Schedule 2 of the said Act.

In various post-independence periods, especially in the past 15 years during the dictatorial regime, it is said that evidence of involvement in various activities disturbing public security including murder, torture, common room-based oppression, dormitory seat trading, tender betting, rape and sexual harassment and in some terrorist cases, the crimes of the leaders and activists have also been proven in court. . Killing of hundreds of innocent students and persons in armed attacks since July 15 this year and involvement in various terrorist acts and conspiratorial, destructive and provocative activities against the state despite the fall of the Awami League government.
