Kanpur News: Kanpur Police has taken action against sandalwood smugglers and arrested two smugglers. Police have recovered 113 kg of sandalwood from smugglers. The value of the seized wood in the international market is said to be crores of rupees. However, the variety of sandalwood has not been revealed yet. Police arrested both smugglers Aaqib and Zeeshan and recovered Rs 1.18 lakh and sandalwood from them.
Actually, Aaqib and Zeeshan, residents of Kannauj, were involved in smuggling for a long time and used to smuggle sandalwood from one city to another. Their smuggled sandalwood used to reach many districts of Uttar Pradesh. The police was trying to catch these smugglers for a long time but every time they escaped by dodging the police. This time the accurate information of the informer has given success to Sisamau Police of Kanpur.

Sisamau police laid a trap on the information of an informer and arrested two smugglers red-handed who were carrying sandalwood worth crores. At present, the police is interrogating these smugglers to find out which of their other associates are involved in smuggling. In which cities and to which people did they sell or deliver sandalwood?
Regarding this action, Sisamau police station in-charge Himanshu said that both the smugglers caught are residents of Kannauj. Many cases are registered against them in different police stations of Kannauj. Action has been taken on the information given by an informer while carrying sandalwood. Now it is also being ascertained to whom these goods were supplied.
