Committee instructions to make modern institutes

Dhaka: The Secretary of the Ministry has been instructed to form a committee to solve the existing problems to make a modern institute in the country, said Brigadier General (retd) Dr. Adviser to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and the Ministry of Shipping. M Sakhawat Hossain.

He said this while visiting Textile Processing Centre, Bangladesh Weaving Education and Training Institute and United-Meghna-Chandpur (UMC) Jute Mill under Bangladesh Textile Board at Narsingdi on Saturday (October 5).

During the briefing after visiting the textile processing center, Advisor to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, M Sakhawat said that it is a kind of service center with the help of small investors among the weavers. Here weaving pre and weaving north services are provided, those machineries are very expensive. Small investors are serviced here at relatively low cost. The Ministry will review it so that it can provide better services. It is an income generating (profit) institution, from which the government receives money.

Later, Advisor M Sakhawat participated as chief guest in the exchange meeting at Bangladesh Textile Education and Training Institute and said, I learned the existing limitations of Diploma in Textile Engineering, BSc in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design Training Institute in this institution. If any irregularity is found it will be investigated. I have directed the secretary of the ministry to form a committee to solve the existing problems to make it a modern institute. Further action will be taken subject to the report of the committee.

Incidentally, the students of the institution demanded the advisor to remove the problems and limitations of the Bangladesh Weaving Education and Training Institute.
Earlier, Advisor to Ministry of Textiles and Jute M Sakhawat Hossain visited United-Meghna-Chandpur jute mill and gave directions in ongoing activities.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Textile and Jute Ministry. Abdur Rauf, Bangladesh Weaving Board Chairman. Mahmud Hossain, Chairman of BJMC Farooq Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rashed Hossain Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police Md. Abdul Hannan, att. Deputy Commissioner Anjan Das, Principal of Bangladesh Weaving Education and Training Institute. Mahbubul Haque, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asma Sultana Nasreen and related people were present.
