Barrister Suman remanded for 5 days

Personal Correspondent: The court remanded former member of parliament Sayedul Haque Sumon for 5 days in the attempted murder case of Mirpur police station in the capital.

On Tuesday (October 22), the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate gave this verdict after a hearing on the matter.

After his earlier arrest, the police applied to the court for his 10-day remand.

He was arrested from Mirpur-6 area around half past midnight on Monday night. Shortly before the arrest, Suman wrote on social media at 1:18 pm, 'I am going with the police. See you in court. Pray everyone'.

Barrister Sumon said in a video message before the arrest, first of all I want to inform you that I am in the country. I am in Dhaka city. I did not go anywhere after August 5. I was undercover only for security reasons.

He said, after August 5, many people told me that you should go abroad. But I didn't go. It seems to me that I have never been corrupt. I have no plot and flat in Dhaka city. Why should I leave the country?

Barrister Suman also said that if there is any case in my name, I will deal with it through law. As I am a lawyer, I have faith in the law.

This created a rumor that maybe he was caught by the police. Netizens are commenting on his Facebook post. It went viral in no time.
